What’s in a Name?

Part of the job of an Eventbrite Event Evangelist is reading through dozens of event listings… a day! At 75 characters (shorter than a tweet!) it’s important to maximize the space and make the most of your event title. Here’s a few tips on how to best “sell” your event at a quick glance!

Pretend you’re a stranger. Imagine finding the event without having ever heard of the event or the host. Will the event title be able to summarize what the event is about and who it is hosted by?

It’s a brand extension.
Keep the voice consistent as with any other form of communication, and if appropriate, include the name of organization hosting the event. On that note, make sure you customize the event URL to stay consistent with your event title. Here’s how.

Play on Words: People like plays on words. Puns and rhymes are two great figures of speech to incorporate in your event title!

Category. What kind of event is it? Is it a tasting, class, conference, or swap? Whatever it is, it may be a good idea to include it in the title, as well as categorize in your privacy settings.

Takeaway. Where does the value lie in your event? If it’s a tasting, people know they’re eating. If it’s a workshop, they know they’re going to be learning and interacting. If it’s a party, it’s pretty much guaranteed people are going to be having night full of fun. Be sure it’s communicated (this may overlap with category).
