Hailing from the Second City does not mean we boast second class events. This year, Chicago produced some of the country’s best in food, tech, and social happenings. I might be a little biased, but just hear me out!
5. Chicago In White
This was the third year for one of Chicago’s premier dining events. This BYO-everything “refined foodie flash mob” attracted more than 1,500 attendees to the Chicago Antique Market on Randolph Street on a beautiful September evening. And, you guessed it, everyone wore white.
4. Chicago Gourmet
Chicago Gourmet is the weekend-long fest that Chicago foodies live for all year long. Over 175 area chefs yearly in Millenium Park to dish up some of the city’s tastiest bites. Offering panels, demos, and seminars, attendees could stuff their brains while stuffing their faces. We’re already counting down the days to 2014. Pro tip: wear your eating pants.
This independently organized event spawning from the TED franchise went big in 2013. Over 600 attendees gathered to receive a healthy dose of knowledge and inspiration from fellow Chicagoans. Each speaker was as inspiring as the last.
2. Fête Night Market
The creators of Dose Market brought us this 2013 posh bazaar. Think chic-flea-market-meets high-end-street-food, but bring that all inside the gorgeous Room 1520. Dozens of food vendors and artisan purveyors all under once roof. Yea, it was pretty rad.
1. Om Run
What happens when 1500 yogis enter Wrigley Field? An Om Run, that’s what! Lululemon knocked it out of the park this year with their second live yoga event on Chicago Cub’s famed field. ‘Twas the day of a thousand namastes!
