The newspapers are all full of really bad news about the economy. Everybody knows somebody that just became unemployed, or just became unemployed. There’s a definite National Mood. If the kinds of wild parties we saw at New Year’s Eve and then again for the inauguration are any indicator, not only is America in a mood to party (if only to be distracted from her anxieties), but she also loves a good theme! Being at a bar on a Tuesday night is just being weak and self-indulgent, but if there’s a thematic reason on the calendar to be there, then you’re all good. Valentine’s Day is a great theme to take advantage of, eventholders! It has the additional appeal of being a suggestive theme. There’s a very short list of success factors here, people.

We just recently made a change to our service so that event holders can manually specify how long each attendee has to complete their order. This is especially useful if you have a long attendee survey and you want to give your attendees more time to complete each question. Or it also comes in handy if you have a very popular event and you don’t want to tie up tickets for very long – in which case you would make a very short time limit (a la Ticketmaster). When an attendee is within your specified time limit, the tickets they’ve selected will be “on hold” and not available for others to purchase. If the time limit is exceeded, those tickets will be released.

To access this feature, select Collect Registration Info from the left feature menu on the “Manage” event page and scroll to the Optional Settings section.

Eventbrite users already enjoy the ability to embed their Eventbrite registration page into their own web pages. Here’s an example. This feature gives users more control over the user experience, branding, and allows them to integrate event registration into the scheme of their own site. One of our customers recently asked us if we could make it possible for them to embed just the order form on a page they could host and completely brand. They just wanted to display the Ticket Information section. It worked so well for them, we decided to offer this as a general feature and call it the Ticket Widget. With the new Ticket Widget, you can instantly add the power to sell tickets to any page on your site. You can apply the same theme and color options to your Ticket Widget as you would to a full registration page. To get your Ticket Widget code, just click on “Sell Tickets from your Site” under the Promote menu on your event dashboard.
