Whew! We’ve fully recovered from our whirlwind trip to Austin, TX to take in all of the excitement at South by Southwest, our favorite gathering of techies, music aficionados and film junkies.
We ate our weight in breakfast tacos. We rode Mashable’s wrecking ball. We listened to Kevin Bacon school millennials on the 80s.
Our Head of Recruiting, Miles Parroco led a session with recruiters Greg Stock and Lauren Titterud on what it means to join a startup, from a recruiting standpoint.
Our Director of Mobile Development, Sean Coady, spoke with our pals from Box, airbnb, and Pinterest on Making the Mobile Leap.
We released a brand new infographic about how social EDM fans are, right before our Head of Music Marketing, Martina Wang spoke with Disco Donnie, Dancing Astronaut and SFX Entertainment on our New EDM Fan panel.
Then, when we thought it wasn’t possible to have any more fun, we partnered with Hype Machine on their annual Hype Hotel party and we co-hosted an epic Lawn Party with our buddies from The Governors Ball Music Festival and rocked out to Skaters, People Under the Stairs, Tourist, Papa, Meg Myers and Hunter Hunted.
At the same time all of this excitement in Austin, Katie McPhee, our London City Marketing Manager, hosted our Third Annual East by East East event at the Ace Hotel in Shoreditch. After a rousing panel discussion on the intersection of tech and music with some of the brightest (britest!?) minds in the music industry and our very own CTO, Renaud Visage, attendees threw down their best mixing skills in the highly competitive Mixcloud Digital Soundclash. But, we weren’t the only busy ones. Let’s take a look at the stats!
• During the 2 weeks of SXSW, Eventbrite supported a whopping 1,000 Austin events on its platform.
• 7,823 daily active Eventbrite App users in Austin during SXSW, a 1,111% increase from January-February levels.
• 1,180 daily downloads of the Eventbrite App from March 13-22, a 1,078% increase from January-February downloads.
As always, SXSW was an epic and exhausting (in the best way possible) trip and we can’t wait for next year. We look forward to seeing all of you back in 2015!
