Organizers share tips at Eventbrite's Nonprofit Breakfast Seminar

photoAs Eventbrite’s first Event Evangelist in San Francisco two of my primary objectives are to build awareness of Eventbrite in SF as well as support and foster the SF event organizer community. Today I hosted our first programming event as part of an effort to support a particular community we are quite passionate about: nonprofits. Eventbrite’s Nonprofit Breakfast Seminar was a workshop for NPOs to learn how to host a successful event for fundraising purposes. Adam London, President of the SF chapter of Philanthro Productions, spoke on effective event marketing, and our own Co-Founder and President of Eventbrite, Julia Hartz, covered how to make the most of your data for events.

There were lots of ideas and best practices shared, and at the end of the session we asked attendees to share their own key takeaways from the workshop. Here are a few:

  • “I loved the analytics that Eventbrite provides and especially hearing Julia’s presentation. It was great learning about different nonprofits in the Bay Area and being able to share in everyone’s experiences. It would be great to have more of these and share on other aspects & explore more case studies as well!”
  • “Leveraging speakers, pricing discounts by group”
  • “Power of the Live Experience, ROFE, Tier Pricing, the Groupon Revolution, Eventbrite features :) for managing events, tapping into social graph”
  • “Most key for me was learning to get donations ahead of time and writing a donation field with Eventbrite”
  • “Build email list (start with contact base) and collect emails through events etc – Data analysis: see when people buy tickets, pricing strategically – Use social media effectively (understand limitations)”
  • “Marketing and analytics. My organization tends to do what they did in the past, and we’re trying to tap into a new market… Smart tips to market, and focus $ in the right place”
  • “The idea sharing among attendees was valuable, and it was helpful to learn more about Eventbrite software.”

At the end of the seminar we had a raffle to see which attending nonprofit would get the sum of our ticket sales donated to their organization. Diana Tsoi was the winner, and we are proud to make the donation to the Japanese Community Youth Council.

Continuing our day of nonprofit involvement, I am currently attending CompassPoint’s Nonprofit Day and Eventbrite is sponsoring the post-conference happy hour. We are thrilled to work with so many nonprofit organizers in San Francisco and are looking forward to continued involvement within this community.
