We sat down for a little Q&A sesh with our new San Francisco City Marketing Manager, Sarah Loaiza. Here’s what we learned!
Name: Sarah Maria Loaiza. Like our Chicago Marketing Manager, Alexa, I also have a musically inspired name, having been named after a James Taylor song.
Hometown: Larchmont, New York.
Why do you <3 SF? Oh baby. How long have you got? Here are just a few things that have caused me to fall hopelessly in love with San Francisco: the food, the fog, costumes, the Bay Bridge lights, burritos, the accepting spirit that pervades the city, murals in the Mission, totchos ( nachos + tater tots = crazy delicious), Dolores Park in the sun, the cable car turn at Hyde & Jackson, the Independent, good beer, and the best people. Did I mention the food?
Why Eventbrite? I’ve been enamored of the Eventbrite spirit for a long time because I really do believe in the power of live experiences to make people’s lives better. As an avid seeker of real-life-in-person-put-down-your-cellphone interactions, I can’t think of anything better than working for a company whose core mission is to help people discover amazing experiences in their city!
Quick! Someone is coming to SF this weekend. Where do you send them? If it’s a first time visit for someone I absolutely insist on braving the crowds to see the sea lions at Pier 39 because they are never not funny or adorable. I love to take folks to Fort Funston to show off how close the amazing ocean views are to the city, and of course, pizza at Tony’s in North Beach is a must.
Best SF event you’ve ever gone to: I was lucky enough to get a ticket to a surprise Phoenix show at the Independent last year before they went down to Indio to headline Coachella. Seeing a band at that level in a more intimate venue like the Independent was incredible and they absolutely killed it.
Favorite SF food?
High Brow: Dried Porcini Doughnuts at Rich Table
Low Brow: Buffalo Style Chicken Tenders at Harry’s Bar
Anything else we need to know? Let’s see. I’m a Stanford alum, wannabe outdoors(wo)man, and my nickname is Sloaiza. Favorite pastimes (after live events and music) include getting sucked into the black-hole that is Pinterest and buying too many flowers at the Ferry Building farmer’s market. Let’s be friends.
