This is the second in a four-part series exploring New Year’s Eve events on Eventbrite. The events profiled have been selected as a winner of our No Compromises contest, in which people with a New Year’s Eve event are eligible to win $2012 to ring in the 2012. Read about the second and first winners, too!
For 10 years, “New Year’s Eve at the Deadwyliers ” has provided an intimate crowd with a reason to celebrate in Simi Valley, Calif. Invites are delivered weeks in advance, via email, to a carefully-selected list of who’s who. In the past, the party has sold out in as few as 30 VIP tickets.
“That’s all I can fit in my kitchen,” says Destiny Deadwylier, party host.
The party includes an all-American feast of barbecued meats, potato salads, and a self-service champagne bar. The playlist, developed exclusively for the event by Mr. Deadwylier, features dozens of songs, ranging from “Auld Lang Syne” to the year’s top hits. Entertainment features, such as the Wii, are so popular that you may want to get there early, just to get your name on the waitlist.
“We started this event because we wanted to limit travel and encourage our friends and neighbors not to drink and drive,” Deadwylier says. “It’s become a great tradition while being safe and responsible.”
If you’re lucky enough to get a ticket to Deadwylier‘s event, you can enter the door raffle and take your chance at being this year’s big winner. (The prize: a Roku video player.) If not, you can try to get on the Skype list, along with virtual guests from New Mexico and Alabama, who will be video-chatting in as part of this year’s main event.
“We’re so excited to be one of the winners of the contest,” Deadwylier says. “We’re planning to put the money toward buying a new condo next year.”
With a larger venue, Deadwylier hopes to expand her guest list for NYE 2013. If you’re lucky, you could snag a ticket.
You may, however, have to bring a potato salad.
