What is Eventbrite Town Hall?

Eventbrite Town Hall is a place where we can gather with our customers to share a brief update on what we’ve been working on and then answer questions and discuss any issues that you want to talk about. It’s all the fun that a public company gets with an investor call, but since we’re not public we get to meet with you, our wonderfully *brite* customers instead. It will be an open forum featuring you and our founder and president, Julia Hartz.

We will limit it to 25 attendees so that we can have a good discussion with an intimate group.

When is the first Town Hall?

Tuesday, November 17th at 11am Pacific

How often will they take place?

We will hold Town Halls on a monthly basis.

How do I register?
Right here!

Our integration provides the perfect may to manage your events and get the word out with personalized email invitations.

MailChimp automatically imports your event details straight from your event and creates a customizable invitation template, allowing you to get the word out fast — no coding required. MailChimp tracks responses to your event invitations, and with their powerful segmentation tools you can target subscribers by zip code, gender and other metrics that you choose. MailChimp also shares our obsession with the power of social media tools – you can share your event invitations across Facebook, Twitter and several other sites with just one click.

MailChimp put a great blog post together, detailing how to get the most out of the partnership.

When you sign up via Eventbrite, MailChimp will add a $25 credit to your account when you make your first purchase, give you free advanced reports, and 3 free inbox inspections. They have all sorts of pricing options including free and pay-as-you-go. Signup here to get the Eventbrite discount.

We hope you love this union as much as we do, check out the great video that our friends at MailChimp put together:

No money needs to be exchanged at the time of the trip. Event attendees can travel safely and enjoy the ride, knowing they are saving on gas and parking, and helping the environment and their community by taking a car off the road. To add a Zoompool rideshare matching widget to your event page, visit the Zoompool + Eventbrite start page and follow the easy instructions.

The Zoompool/Eventbrite integration takes advantage of the Eventbrite Developer Platform.

While for some Labor Day signals the end of summer, changing leaves, or back to school, for us here at Eventbrite it heralds the beginning of conference season and one of our busiest times of year. We anticipated increased growth, but we did not foresee the dramatic spike in activity that we experienced on Tuesday and Wednesday. As Twitter said, “It’s not rocket science, but it’s our work,” and we couldn’t agree more. While we experience some growing pains, we don’t want you to feel a thing.

We’ve taken the measures to ensure that our technology will scale as quickly as our business is growing (growing our operations team, adding additional servers, optimizing pages, improving our tracking and logging of processes, creating a more redundant network) and we commit to maintaining an open and honest relationship with our customers.

Here’s the email that our CEO, Kevin Hartz, sent out this morning:

Dear Eventbrite Customer,

As many of you are aware we experienced severe server loads on September 8th and 9th, causing a series of outages and making our service intermittently unavailable.

In our efforts to quickly remedy the outage, we focused on keeping registration pages up so that attendees could continue to buy tickets and register for events. However, in order to do so we had to temporarily shut down some of the event management functionality. Registrations and ticket sales continued with only minor interruptions, but we are aware of the great inconvenience and frustration that this caused for event holders who were trying to access or modify their events during this time.

Our business has been steadily growing and we have been committed to offering world-class service and availability. We were not prepared for the magnitude of traffic that hit us this week, but we learned a valuable lesson and we’re growing our operations to meet these challenges. Since Tuesday, we have secured the resources required for this new level of growth and redesigned our system to handle unexpected peaks.

While we better anticipate the changes that come with growth, our commitment to you remains the same. You are at the center of everything we do and we will continue to pursue an open and honest relationship and deliver both the good and the bad news.

When necessary we will post site updates on our blog, on twitter by following @Eventbrite, and on our Facebook Fan Page. As always please feel free to reach out to us over any of these channels, through email, or by giving us a call at 1-800-350-8850.

Thank you again for your support,

Kevin Hartz
CEO
They just launched Dimdim Webinar, a browser-based offering for easy, affordable webinar hosting, and when combined with our ticketing and promotions platform, the solution is killer. Webinar hosts can now attract more attendees, register more listeners, and make more money with their webinars. TechCrunch thought it was pretty cool too.

We recently did a webinar of our own, “Tapping the Power of Social Media for Event Promotion,” and Dimdim won us over. Here are some of the reasons why we heart Dimdim so much:

One-click attendance. We don’t want you to waste time messing with clunky software. Unlike all legacy webinar products, Dimdim Webinar attendees do not install any software to join, see, hear or participate in webinars, events and presentations. Attendees enter a webinar instantly from any browser, with one click. Likewise, Dimdim Webinar hosts need not install any software to schedule, host, record or even share their presentations.

A cool widget. We love widgets. We have many of our own. Dimdim’s new Webinar Widget allows for flexible, personalized registration, making registering, joining, and promoting your webinar easier than ever.

The green. Like us, they love when they can help their customers make more money. Dimdim Webinar is accompanied by free comprehensive resources that guide you through the steps for making money from webinars. These include: an affiliate program that pays up to $150 for each webinar signup, help videos and guides, a free eBook, and the ability to schedule and provide tickets to webinars for free or for a fee through an exclusive partnership with yours truly.

Analytics. We like numbers. Reporting and tracking of webinars gives the host a full picture of who attended or missed your webinar and how participants interacted.

Speed. We like to move quickly and we want you to be able to also. Hosts can share their desktop with a single click up to five times faster with less bandwidth required and with improved quality and smoothness of operation.

PodCamp Boston was the winner with over 3600 hashtagged tweets over the course of the eight days!

Last week we conducted the first ever Eventbrite Hashup Contest to reward the event that generated the most tweets. PodCamp Boston was the winner with over 3600 hashtagged tweets over the course of the eight days! They used the hash tag #pcb4 and watched as both attendees and want-to-be attendees chattered away about the event over Twitter.

Events are inherently social — people like to talk about them, tell their friends about them, and meet new people at them. In the past, event attendees could only connect at the event, but now Twitter allows them to connect and share opinions before, during, and after the event has long ended. A Twitter hashtag unifies all the discussion around an event, helps people find others who are tweeting about the event and when someone searches for that hashtag, they’ll see all the related messages. Check out as the tweets keep coming in for #pcb4.

This is what Michelle Wolverto from PodCamp had to say about using a Twitter hashtag:

“Twitter gave us a way to communicate fast and easy with each other on the day of the event, especially with the use of our hashtag. Afterward, it was even easier to track the summary blog posts and photos if people tweeted using the hashtag #pcb4.”

So congrats to Podcamp for generating the most buzz and enjoy your new Eventbrite Flip Cam! Check out upcoming PodCamp events here.
