Brite Impact’s Winter Wrap Up

As a company, we’re super passionate about causes. Through our Eventbrite for Causes program, we’ve seen non profits create over 30,000 fundraising events and raise over $35 million in 2012 alone. But we don’t just help ticket these events. Our employees are involved in and volunteer with many of the organizations and causes as well. Because there are so many Britelings who volunteer in their spare time, a group of particularly spirited employees formed the Brite Impact in 2011 to highlight more opportunities to volunteer and give back as a company. This past quarter, the Brite Impact team organized a company-wide food drive and also volunteered at the Foster a Dream Winter Wonderland.

Through Brite Impact’s efforts, the Eventbrite team donated over 1,000 canned goods to Food Runners,  a volunteer organization dedicated to alleviating hunger in San Francisco. Food Runners picks up excess perishable and prepared foods from businesses and delivers it directly to shelters and neighborhood programs that feed the hungry.

Then, just a few weeks later, the Brite Impact team spent an entire Saturday volunteering at Foster a Dream’s Winter Wonderland. Foster a Dream’s mission is to provide programs and resources that build the hopes, dreams and futures of Bay Area foster children; and to be a guiding source for a successful transition into the adult world. Every year Foster a Dream transforms a huge warehouse into a Winter Wonderland, with various stations for all of their children to visit. These stations included photos with Santa, cookie decorating, holiday games with great prizes, snack and hot chocolate stations and gifts galore. The kids who attended each had an ‘elf’ who carried all of their gifts!

One of the Brite Impact’ers, Ali, said, “The best part about it was watching the kids so happy. There was only one rule, and it was to never say no to a child. They got totally pampered and all felt super special to be able to have fun and get some great treats. It was aeswome to be a part of everything, and to see how gracious and thankful both the children and foster parents were.”

The Brite Impact team already has tons of great activities and volunteer opportunities planned for 2013, keep an eye out for our next update!
